Microsoft will hold a presentation later this month sharing details about the next generation of Windows. The company will send out invitations to a digital event on Thursday, June 24.
The Microsoft event will be broadcast live at 8:30 PM IST the company reports. The event follows previous teasers from Microsoft about a possible new version of the Windows operating system. CEO Satya Nadella already announced during the Microsoft Build event that the company would soon share more details about “the next generation” of the OS.
It’s not confirmed exactly what the “next generation” of Windows will entail, but given previous teasers and hints, Microsoft is expected to announce major visual changes to its operating system in any case. Microsoft already seems to be teasing a revamped Windows logo in the invitation to the upcoming event.
For example, there has been some talk of a project codenamed Sun Valley , which involved talking about the user interface and taking a comprehensive approach to Windows design. Among other things, the design of the start menu and the taskbar would receive a significant change. The changes are rumored to be made in Windows 10’s 21H2 update later this year.
Microsoft has already tweaked some visual aspects of Windows 10. For example, the company recently introduced new system icons . Screenshots of a revamped Action Center and taskbar menus also appeared recently . The company also announced this year that it was discontinuing development of Windows 10X , a version of the OS for dual-screen devices. Features from that operating system would be added to the regular version of Windows 10.
