How to protect against horse ants? – Nature

The horse ant is a genus that can destroy a tree. Horse ants do not eat and digest wood like termites, but chew holes in it. They do this to make a nest for themselves and do their best to widen it by chewing the tree.

Protection against ants

Ants are undesirable occupants of a house, as they destroy all wooden objects in the apartment until they are exterminated. Simply blowing them with insecticide will kill some ants, but it won’t solve the problem permanently.

Difficulty level: Medium

First step

Eliminate possible entrances where ants come into the apartment. Insulate all gaps on the ground floor of the apartment. Insulate doors and windows to prevent ants from entering.

Second step

Repair any leaking taps or pipes that provide moisture and attract ants. Carpenters ants build their homes near moistened wood. Repair leaking gutters, roof, sink, washing machine and inspect windows where there is air conditioning to see how much moisture is found in the unit.

Third step

Remove any old wooden poles or firewood from near the house. Ants often look for just such wood because they have a relatively high humidity or humidity. The rotting fence or planking also attracts ants.

Fourth step

Use an ant bait to destroy the entire ant colony. For best results, observe where the ants are walking around the house and make small lumps of bait for the workers to take back to the apartment, to their nest for the other ants who will eat and die from it.

Fifth step

Place the ant lure in an apartment where children and pets do not have access. Place the bait in the attic, in electrical outlets in the wall, under a rug, or in hard-to-reach corners of the kitchen cabinet.
