Scarlet will increase upload and download speeds of subscriptions from 1 February

Belgian provider Scarlet will increase the download speed of internet connections from 1 February. It then goes from 50 to 70 Mbit/s. The upload speed also increases. The budget provider, which is part of Proximus, has only two packages.

The provider is announcing the speed increase in an email to customers. Both the upload and download speed will increase from February 1, the company writes. It concerns the Loco subscription, which has no data limit. This is, in addition to a limited Poco subscription, with a data limit of 50GB, the only fixed internet subscription that Scarlet offers. The download speed will go to 50Mbit/s as of February 1 of this year. The upload speed increases from 4 to 10Mbit/s.

The provider says nothing about a price increase. It may follow later in the year. This happens more often after a speed increase.

Scarlet is a subsidiary of Proximus. The provider uses Proximus’ VDSL connection and says that the maximum speed for customers therefore depends on circumstances such as the distance to the telephone exchange.
