WhatsApp lets iOS users send photos and videos in original quality

WhatsApp original quality photo and video

WhatsApp is releasing an update for iOS, allowing iPhone users to now send photos and videos in the original quality. The chat service previously added the option to send photos with a maximum resolution of 4096×2692 pixels.

The changelog of WhatsApp version 23.24.73 shows that it is possible to send media files in their original quality as a file, WABetaInfo noted . There is a maximum file size of 2GB. By default, the app sends compressed images and videos, so the recipient receives a lower quality of the file. For several months now it has also been possible to choose an ‘HD’ option , which allows photos and videos to be sent with a maximum resolution of 4096×2692 pixels.

In January 2023, a rumor went around that WhatsApp would be given the option to send photos in the original quality. The feature was tested in November by a select number of users and will roll out to all iOS users ‘in the coming weeks’. WhatsApp users can send photos and videos via iPhone in original quality via ‘+’ > ‘Document’ > ‘Choose a photo or video’. The feature is also expected soon on Android, as it recently became available to a small group of beta users
