Android 12 would take colors depending on your wallpaper

A new index highlighted by XDA Developers and one of its collaborators shows that Android 12 will go all out to color your user experience.

At the start of each year, Google rolls out the new version of its Android mobile operating system in a Developer Preview version for a handful of smartphones and users. It is also an opportunity to preview the future features that will land on our Android smartphones.

For Android 12, this process has already started: we know in passing some of the next new features expected by the end of the summer, when Google should deploy the stable version. Last year, the launch of Android 11 took place at the beginning of September.

For about two months, a novelty Android 12 has been the subject of several leaks: that of a more advanced native theming. XDA Developers and one of his collaborators still have proof of this from screenshots sent by the latter. How does this materialize?

The idea is simple: the system would be able to extract the dominant color from your wallpaper and apply it to the entire software experience. This new function would also have a small name in the corridors of Google: Monet. In February, a certain “kdrag0n” had published a series of examples via several screenshots.

Google Assistant would also be entitled

Based on new images uploaded by XDA Developers, this theming would apply even to Google Assistant. However, there is a problem with the examples of the media: the background color of Assistant does not match the shade of the wallpaper in question.

For XDA Developers, this inconsistency is explained as follows: Google is simply testing the functionalities of Monet, and in the process is preparing the theming of Google Assistant. In any case, several elements corroborate the existence of Monet, which seems more and more concrete for Android 12. Android 12 still has surprises in store for us if we are to believe the code changes on AOSP.
