Facebook continues to focus on audio with new features

While developing a functionality similar to Clubhouse, the firm is developing new tools related to audio.

In addition to the development of its Clubhouse copycat, Facebook announces new features for its various applications. The firm still relies on audio and hopes to drastically improve the experience of its users. This notably involves tools that can be very practical on Instagram and Messenger. First of all, it now displays the status of voice transmissions. Concretely, when you send a voice message to a friend, you will be able to see if the latter has seen it. Until now, it was still impossible to know if someone was ghosting you during audio exchanges. This is more or less what the application already offers for written messages.

Moreover, on this component, Facebook is reviewing its copy. From now on, to send a voice note, it will no longer be necessary to hold the button. Instead, just press the mic at the bottom of the screen for the first time, then do it again at the end of your monologue. This will also avoid false manipulations, which could sometimes cut off the user. Already available on Messenger, it should land on Instagram in the coming weeks.

Finally, it is now possible to reply to a message with an image or an audio clip on Instagram. Concretely, like what Messenger already offers, users of the social network will be able to select a particular message to respond to it. Until now this was impossible. If the first iOS users can already benefit from it, it will however be necessary to wait a little longer on Android.

Facilitate the archiving of conversations on Messenger

Currently, it is not very easy to archive conversations. To put away some of your old exchanges, without deleting them, it is necessary to click for a long time on it and select “archive”. Much like what messaging apps now offer, Facebook is developing a new feature that will allow you to do so with a simple swipe to the right. At the same time, Messenger also offers to make it easier to find these same conversations by including them in the menu hidden behind your profile picture. However, the update does not seem to be available to all users yet. The deployment is gradual, so we will have to wait a little longer before we can all benefit.
