Pixel Watch gets coprocessor, more RAM and storage than competitors on Wear OS

According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch will get a coprocessor on board in addition to the 2018 Exynos 9110-soc, presumably for constant, lighter tasks. It would also get more than 1.5GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The sources of the website do not state what the coprocessor would serve . It is known that a coprocessor takes over tasks from the ‘main’ CPU, but not which tasks in this case. The site’s editors speculate that these are health monitoring tasks; these take place continuously and in that area a lot of battery charge can be saved.

The site further reports that the Pixel Watch will have ‘slightly more’ RAM than the 1.5GB of the Galaxy Watch 4. The author speaks of the Pixel Watch as having ‘more RAM than any existing smartwatch’. However, the Huawei Watch 3 Pro has 2GB of RAM. It is unclear whether 9to5Google has briefly forgotten about such a model in this article, whether by ‘just over 1.5GB of ram’ it also means ‘more than 2GB of ram’ or whether it was intended to limit the comparison to Wear OS smartwatches. .

With 32GB of storage, the Pixel Watch would compete with models like the Apple Watch, several Garmin smartwatches and the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro. There is no Wear OS model with more than 16GB of storage. Saving music for offline playback is an obvious use for the storage space on a smartwatch.

A week ago , 9to5Google released a message, based on its sources, stating that the Pixel Watch runs on the Exynos 9110-soc. This soc was first used in the Samsung Galaxy Watch from 2018. The use of this soc does not necessarily have to be the death blow. In its Pixel 6 and 6 Pro , Google also used Cortex A76 processor cores, which were already quite outdated at the time of those phones release. Nevertheless, the user experience in, for example, the Tweakers review of the phones was described as ‘wonderfully smooth’. Other rumors, also from 9to5Google, stated that the battery is 300mAH and e-sim is supported .

The Pixel Watch comes out this fall. The price is not yet known, nor in which countries it will be released. Pixel devices usually do not come out in the Netherlands and Belgium, but they are often available in nearby European countries, which makes import possible.
