Samsung has also made free TV Plus streaming service available via the web

Samsung quietly made the web version of its TV Plus streaming service available in the second quarter of this year. It is the first time that the South Korean company’s TV Plus service can also be seen on non-Samsung devices.

The web service is not yet available worldwide; In any case, it is not the turn of the Netherlands and Belgium yet. Here, another 2017 or later Samsung TV is required for that. If users have one, they can watch twenty different channels for free, with themes such as news, sports and entertainment. The free service has ads and has been around since 2015, but was only available in South Korea at the beginning. Availability on TVs in the Benelux came in April .

If you want to try the web version of Samsung TV Plus, you will have to enable a VPN for now. For example, the United States does have access to the web version. There you can see that the service has more than 140 channels in that country. An account is not required for most channels. The service’s mobile app also has Chromecast capabilities. The app currently only works on Samsung devices.

With the expansion of TV Plus, Samsung is getting more competitive with other free video streaming services, such as Pluto TV, Tubi, Plex, Peacock and The Roku Channel. Protocol, which was one of the first to make the news, notes that Samsung doesn’t even mention a web version on its official product page for the service, despite it’s been available for a while.
