Xiaomi is not a newcomer to the field of true wireless headphones. The Chinese group has indeed already launched several models, whether they are the Redmi AirDots 3, the Mi True Wireless 2 or the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2S. Nevertheless, the company seems to have put a boost on Thursday with the presentation of its new Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro

Introduced in China, these headphones are the first in a new FlipBuds line dedicated to wireless headphones. They differ from previous Xiaomi models by their more polished design, while roundness. An aesthetic that is also reminiscent of that of Huawei FreeBuds Pro.

On the characteristics side, the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro are equipped with Qualcomm’s QCC5151 chip serving in particular for the Bluetooth connection, as well as transducers – or speakers – 11 mm in diameter. The headphones are compatible with the Bluetooth 5.2 standard and benefit from a low latency mode, particularly useful for mobile games. Note also that the FlipBuds Pro benefit from a multipoint Bluetooth connection, allowing them to be connected simultaneously to a laptop and a smartphone. Finally, regarding compatible Bluetooth audio codecs, the FlipBuds Pro benefit from AAC and SBC, but also from aptX Adaptive, Qualcomm’s most high-end codec.

Active noise canceling in-ear headphones

But it is mainly through their active noise reduction function that the FlipBuds Pro stand out from their predecessors. It must be said that Xiaomi had accustomed us until then to headphones in open-fit format, with low passive isolation. The new models are this time in-ear, equipped with silicone tips to block ambient sounds. Enough to ensure better reduction of ambient noise using integrated microphones and active noise reduction. According to Xiaomi, the FlipBuds Pro would thus reduce the sound level by up to 40 dB.

For now, the Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro have only been announced in China where they will be available from May 21 for a price of 799 yuan, or 102 euros excluding tax.
